Leaders by Example - Bennett McNaughton Attorneys


	Bennett McNaughton & Jansen originated as a practice in Springs in 1939 under the name and style of Colin Bissett & McNaughton. Mr. Bissett left for Swaziland where he became the Chief Justice. A partnership between Mr. Bennett and McNaughton was forged after both these parties returned from active duty in the Second World War. In 1948 the firm became known as Bennett & McNaughton Attorneys..

In 1974 Mr. Tony Jansen joined the firm as Article Clerk and was admitted as a partner after Mr. McNaughton’s death. In 1985 the firm became known as Bennett McNaughton & Jansen now popularly referred to as BMcJ Attorneys. Mr. Bennett passed away in 1987, upon where Mr. Jansen became senior partner. Mr. Jansen was joined early in 1995 by Heinrich Schmidt as associate.

Mr. Schmidt took responsibility for the new office in Edenvale, which proudly opened its doors on 1 August 1995.Marlene Van den Berg joined the practice in the middle of 1998 and both Mr. Schmidt and Mrs. Van Den Berg were admitted as partners in 1998.Mr. Jansen passed away tragically on the 14^th of December 1999.


	The partners of Bennett McNaughton are presently Mr. Heinrich Schmidt and Marlene van den Berg, both in Edenvale. To this day we have strong ties with our sister office in Springs
